Barbecue Safety Every Toronto Homeowner Should Know
Every summer, families and friends around the Toronto area gather to enjoy the summer months. Barbecues are often top on the list for many Torontonians looking to enjoy good food, weather and each other’s company. It is not only important to have fun but also to keep safety top on the priority list. Many people don't realize the hazards that can come along with barbecuing. Dirty grills, leaky hoses, aged tanks and products on the grill are all potential dangers. The number of barbecue fires has risen over the last five years causing millions worth of damages. To avoid any barbecue mishaps, be sure to keep your grill surface clean and away from combustible sources. Check your tank and hoses regularly, be mindful of rust build up and tank date stamps, typically five years. If using a charcoal barbecue, be sure to let the charcoal completely cool before getting rid of it. While grilling, exercise caution making sure it is never left unattended and that children and pets are a safe distance away.
